Many of the old , historically important guitars of the early 19th century are now considered important museum pieces, so are not available for performance by today’s musicians. In order to be playable, these historic instruments would need to be rebuilt, and this would be unacceptable to any museum.
This limitation gives the contemporary guitarmaker a unique opportunity, to build copies according to the specifications of the old masters. In my workshop I have built instruments that in construction and sound are close to the instruments of the old Spanish , Italian, French and Viennese masters. And I can modify the construction details, such as bridge saddle and fingerboard width, tuners etc., to suit the modern classical player.
